While inequities grow in who can afford what in our world, we also face the existential limitation of what can be bought - and who we become through our transactions. Beyond questions of "what money can't buy," we are confronted with what we have created, produced, put into the world as both our offering and our hunger. The Power/powers that be hear our rumblings and write the menu accordingly.

 

The options we have on view are shaped by our past and our collective vision. We can grow wealth to attain the best listed, arming ourselves with a sense of entitled power within the commodification of life. Or we can make peace with the menu, asking only for what's reasonably available and allowing the rest to dwell as sacred.

 

Occasionally, if we're lucky and work at it, we find something we can contribute, adding to the menu for others. ​
